Course Description

The course covers information systems technology, database, system development task and methodologies.

 

Objective:

After doing this course the students are expected be able to design and implement the simple information system by them self, and are able to participate in designing and implementing the complex information system as the members of information system project team.

 

Competencies

After doing the unit students are expected to be able to:

  1. determine information requirements
  2. design database
  3. design information systems input and output
  4. use the appropriate system development methodologies and techniques

TENTATIVE GRADING POLICY:

Tentative allocation of points.  Depending on time available I may remove some assignments.  In the event that this happens, those points will simply be subtracted from the total available for the class.

Midterm: up to 20 points
Group Assignment 15-25 points

Article writing  assignment 15-25 points
Final exam: 30-50points
Participation up to10 points
At home exercises (reading Notes): up to 10 points

 

Literature Review Article Writing Assignment due on week 10

You are required to write an literature review article based on only 4(four) authoritative references from journal articles/book chapters. (Reference from individual web block is not allowed), choose the topic based on the lecturing material. You have to get approval for your topic by showing your references on week 5.  There are one class meeting on week 5 for planning and starting this paper writing. The paper length is 1000-1500 words only. Use APA reference style for citation.

 

Reading Notes

The students should prepare the reading notes for every topics before attend the class. The notes will be check randomly. If you can not show your notes your point will be deducted by 1.

Anyone caught cheating on an exam/assignment will be given a ZERO (E).
