Course Description

The course covers information systems technology, database, system development task and methodologies. After doing this course the students are expected be able to design and implement the simple information system by them self, and able to participate in designing and implementing the complex information system as the members of information system project team

 

Learning Objectives

After doing the unit students is expected to be:

1.      Able to work in a team

2.      Having a good communication skill both oral and written

3.    Having strong character, attitude and integrity (religious, nationalist, ethically and moral responsible, socially responsible, self-confidence, and independent)

4.   Able to adapt current and future issues in information system technology

5.   able to determine information requirements

6.   able to design database

7.   able to design information systems input and output

8.   able to use the appropriate system development methodologies and techniques

Literature Review Article Writing Assignment due on week 9

You are required to write a literature review article based on only 4 (four) authoritative references from journal articles/book chapters. (Reference from individual web block is not allowed), choose the topic based on the lecturing material. You have to get approval for your topic by showing your references on week 5. The paper length are 1000-1500 words only. Use APA reference style for citation.

Reading Notes

The students should prepare the reading notes based on hard copy references for every topics before attend the class. The notes will be check randomly. If you cannot show your notes and references your point will be deducted by 1.

TENTATIVE GRADING POLICY:

Tentative allocation of points.  Depending on time available I may remove some assignments.  In the event that this happens, those points will simply be subtracted from the total available for the class.

Simple project 10 points

Midterm: up to 20 points

Group Assignment 15-25 points

Article writing assignment 15-25 points
Final exam: 30-50points
Participation up to10 points
At home exercises (reading Notes): up to 10 points

 

CHEATING POLICY:

Anyone caught cheating on an exam/assignment will be given a ZERO (E).

Please note that cheating includes plagiarism.
